Not yet final. Two details are still to be filled in before this page goes public, written [like this] below: the operating entity and a mailing address. Governing law is written as British Columbia, Canada, which is an assumption to confirm. This box is removed at the same time.
Terms of use
These terms are an agreement between you and [OPERATING ENTITY], [MAILING ADDRESS], Canada (“CoupleSave”, “we”, “us”). By using this website, joining the alpha list, or using the app when it launches, you accept them. If you do not, do not use the service.
1. What the service is, and what it is not
CoupleSave is a savings app for couples: a shared goal, a shared ledger, a village that fills in as the goal fills, and a curated wall of offers whose rewards are credited toward the goal.
CoupleSave is not a bank, a credit union, a trust company, a money services business, a securities dealer, an insurer or an investment adviser. We do not hold your money and we do not take deposits. Your shared goal is a record of what has been credited to you. Money moves to an account you own, through a licensed payout partner. Nothing in the app is deposit insurance, and nothing in the app is financial, tax or legal advice.
2. Pre-launch status
The app is in development. Joining the alpha list is not a purchase and does not guarantee you a place in the alpha, which is small and limited to one country at a time. Everything described on this site may change before launch, and the alpha software will have defects. We may change, pause or end the alpha at any time.
3. Who may use it
You must be 18 or older and legally able to enter a contract. Each partner needs their own account; one person may not operate both. Both partners must be in the same country. One account per person, and the information you give us has to be accurate.
4. Couples, and what the other partner sees
Linking your account to a partner creates a shared household: the goal, the ledger, the village and the earning history are visible to both of you, and either of you can act on them. Do not log anything you are not willing to share with your partner. If the two of you separate, either partner may unlink. The partner who stays keeps the household and its history, and the one who leaves keeps their own account and may ask us to delete their personal information under the privacy policy. We do not arbitrate between partners and we will not divide a goal for you.
5. Offers and rewards
- An offer is the partner’s, not ours. Their terms, eligibility rules and privacy policy govern what you do on their site, and we are not responsible for their product or their conduct.
- A reward is credited once the partner confirms the completion. That can take days or weeks.
- We may decline or reverse a credit if the partner does not confirm it, reverses it, or if the completion was not genuine. We will tell you the reason.
- No amount is promised. What you earn depends on the offers available, what you choose to do and what the partner validates. See the rewards and affiliate disclosure.
- We are paid a commission on completions, which is disclosed on that page and is our only revenue.
6. Payouts
You may request a payout of a confirmed balance, subject to a minimum we publish in the app, once your email address is verified. Payouts go to an account or card in your own name, through our payout partner, and the partner’s identity and tax requirements apply. Earnings paid to you may be taxable where you live, and that is your responsibility: in the United States our payout partner may need your tax information before paying you once annual payouts reach the threshold the IRS sets. Routing one partner’s earnings to the other partner’s account to change a tax outcome is not allowed. We do not pay interest on a balance held in the app, and an unconfirmed credit is not a balance.
7. Acceptable use
Do not: complete offers with false information, a borrowed identity or more accounts than one; submit a receipt that is not yours or that you have already submitted; use bots, emulators, VPN fraud or incentivised-traffic schemes against our partners; try to reverse-engineer, scrape or overload the service; resell access; or use the service for anything unlawful. Offer fraud is the one thing that would end this business, so we treat it strictly: we may withhold unpaid credits, close the account and tell the affected partner.
8. Your content
Receipts you photograph and entries you write stay yours. You give us the licence we need to operate the service for you: to read, store, process and display that content to you and your partner, and to pass to a reward partner only what a reward you asked for requires. We do not sell it and we do not use it for advertising.
9. Our content
The CoupleSave name, the village artwork, the interface, the copy and the software are ours or our licensors’. You may use them only as part of using the service.
10. Availability and changes
We will try to keep the service running but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and during the alpha it will not be. We may add, change or remove features, and we may end the service, with notice where we reasonably can. If we end it, you will be able to request a payout of a confirmed balance and to export your data.
11. Suspension and closing an account
You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account for a breach of these terms, for suspected fraud, or where the law requires it. If we close an account for fraud, we may withhold credits connected to it.
12. Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, the service is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, and without any warranty about results, savings or earnings. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, and in those places only the exclusions the law allows apply. Nothing here limits a consumer-protection right you have that cannot be waived.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost savings, lost profits or lost data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount of confirmed credits we failed to pay you and one hundred Canadian dollars. We remain liable for anything the law does not permit us to exclude, including our own fraud or wilful misconduct.
14. Indemnity
You will cover our reasonable losses from a claim caused by your breach of these terms or by fraudulent use of the service through your account.
15. Email and messages
We send you email about the alpha only if you asked for it, and every email has an unsubscribe link, as Canada’s anti-spam law (CASL) and the United States CAN-SPAM Act require. Service messages about your account, a payout or a security matter are not marketing and continue while your account is open. Push notifications are opt-in and controlled on your device.
16. Privacy
The privacy policy is part of these terms.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes, and if a change is material we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version.
18. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of British Columbia have jurisdiction, and nothing in this section takes away a right you have to bring a claim where you live, or to use a consumer dispute-resolution body available to you.
